Strengthening community healthcare centers throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo

Prosami has no consistent, safe method to transport mothers who are critically ill to the referral hospital, as well as neonates requiring prolonged and complex resuscitation. Often very ill mothers are seen perched on the back of a moped or bicycle.. racing to the hospital in effort to get urgent treatment. PROSAMI needs a used van or station wagon vehicle, to set up as an ambulance, to transfer very ill patients to the nearby referral hospital. Such ambulance could also  be used to go to residents in the rural field, and bring them to Pilot Center in life-saving efforts when peripartum hemorrhage or malpresentation is occurring.
