PROSAMI provides healthcare for pregnant mothers which extends through delivery of the baby and up to one year of post-partum care. Infants are followed for one year. No mother is turned away.
PROSAMI provides laboratory services and dispenses basic medications for the peripartum mother. The pilot center has emergency C-section instruments with an operating table and high lumen operative lights. In addition, the pilot center has an incubator that holds up to two infants simultaneously.
STRENGTHENING PERSONNEL.
Education & Training
PROSAMI educates and trains highly motivated nurse midwives who can deliver quality healthcare in order to reduce maternal and infant mortality. Our students become knowledgeable and skilled in recognizing health indicators, symptoms, and appropriate treatment options for mothers and infants.
PROSAMI has designed and implemented an advanced midwifery training program, within the International Confederation of Midwives and the framework of the University of Natal Midwifery school curriculum. Through the University of Virginia, PROSAMI provides “Telemidwifery” to the DRC health institutions and their staff to facilitate distance Advanced Midwifery & Neonatal training and consultations.
